Hospital Indemnity coverage, offered through Aetna, helps you cover some of your expenses by paying a benefit directly to you. If you are hospitalized, whether for an accident or illness, you are paid $2,000 for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission or $1,000 for a non-ICU admission. There is an additional benefit paid for each day you are in the hospital, $200 for an ICU confinement, or $100 for non-ICU confinement, up to 30 days for an accident and up to 30 days for an illness.

The policy is portable, which means you can maintain your coverage if you leave Sysco.

How It Works

After you receive a covered service, file a claim with Aetna to receive payment. Visit Aetna.com or call 1-833-361-0223. Aetna will send a check directly to you, so you can cover expenses like your medical insurance deductible, copays, and coinsurance. See the plan details on Aetna.com for more information.

Who Is Covered?

You can purchase Hospital Indemnity coverage for yourself and your eligible dependents, which include your spouse and dependent children until their 26th birthday. In order to elect the benefit for your dependents, you must also be enrolled. The cost of coverage can be found in the Total Rewards Café. Premiums will be deducted from your paycheck.

Filing a Claim

To file a Hospital Indemnity claim, download the My Aetna Supplemental mobile app or visit myaetnasupplemental.com. Register on the site if you haven’t already. (You’ll need your Member ID or Social Security number.) You can also access the member portal through aetna.com.

Once you are logged in, follow these steps to file a claim.

  1. Click on “Report New Claim.”
  2. Follow the steps and answer the questions.
  3. Review your claim for accuracy and submit.
